Overview

In this role you lead delivery of the Smarter Water Catchment programme for the Thame Catchment, driving catchment-scale interventions and behaviour changes to improve water quality and the aquatic environment. You will coordinate with RTCT, Thames Water, landowners and partners to align plans with organisational priorities, commissioning new evidence where needed and securing buy-in and permissions. You will manage a growing project team, ensure delivery within budgets and reporting requirements, and act as the RTCT ambassador to maximise catchment-based water management benefits. Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery of the SWC programme within timescales, budget and performance targets
  • Identify recruitment needs and develop business cases for SWC staffing
  • Manage a wider RTCT SWC team for optimal resource use and delivery
  • Collaborate with project team and partners to plan activities drawing on catchment management expertise
  • Commission and oversee external tasks and projects with partners and consultants
  • Manage monitoring, evaluation and reporting to capture environmental, economic and behavioural impacts
  • Support the Project Director in Steering Group administration
  • Identify risks and opportunities; implement mitigation and adaptive management
  • Maintain a coordinated project programme and ensure adaptability to changing circumstances
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Thames Water and partner organisations
  • Facilitate collaborative working to maximise environmental benefits and leverage resources
  • Act as RTCT ambassador and promote catchment-based water management benefits
  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements, regulations and policies
  • Prepare high-quality technical, financial and progress reports for stakeholders
  • Oversee health and safety, records and audit trails
  • Manage project budget and forecast funding needs
  • Pursue additional funding and explore private markets for ecosystem services
  • Lead continuous improvement through monitoring, learning and knowledge capture
  • Develop thinking on sustaining SWC beyond four years including blended funding models

Key requirements

  • Experience in water sector or environmental field (5 years)
  • Legal entitlement to live and work in the UK
  • Ability to commute/ relocate to Oxford area (OX33 1XW)
