Overview
In this role you will lead and shape medical device research programmes from concept through to manufacturing. You will manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and collaborate across cross-functional partners to deliver complex projects. You will balance technical challenges with commercial insights, aligning scope with market needs and stakeholder expectations. You will drive innovation by weaving together electronics, mechanical, software, and science disciplines to realize impactful devices. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear path to director level for the right candidate, set in a progressive Cambridgeshire environment.

Responsibilities
- Lead research programmes from concept to manufacturing and beyond
- Manage a team of engineers across multidisciplinary areas
- Take programmatic lead on diverse challenges and align technical and commercial goals
- Coordinate with stakeholders and suppliers to integrate cross-company efforts on complex projects
- Contribute to shaping product strategy and market scoping for technology platforms
Key requirements
- Significant experience leading research projects and programmes
- Strong academic foundations in mechanical engineering
- Vital medical devices experience, with flexibility on device type (e.g., smart implants, drug delivery)
