Overview
In this role you will lead the design and delivery of highway and drainage schemes for diverse developments within a growing Leeds practice. You will work closely with clients, architects and authorities to shape infrastructure at feasibility through construction. The role blends technical leadership with mentoring and resource management, backed by a strong BIM and digital engineering emphasis. Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of highway and drainage schemes for residential, commercial and industrial developments
- Produce and review drainage strategies, highway layouts, external works designs, earthworks information, technical reports, specifications and construction drawings
- Manage technical approvals (Section 38, 278, 104) and related adoption requirements
- Own schemes or provide technical leadership across multiple projects as appropriate
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, statutory authorities and design team members; attend project meetings
- Oversee workloads, programmes and resources; ensure timely, accurate, commercially viable delivery
- Mentor Engineers, Technicians and Trainees; provide technical guidance and support career progression
- Contribute to BIM and digital engineering initiatives and explore new software to improve accuracy and coordination
Key requirements
- Strong background in UK development infrastructure, particularly highways and drainage
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; drainage software such as MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage; Civil 3D experience is beneficial
- Experience delivering adoptable roads and drainage schemes and handling technical agreements
- Confident communicator with ability to manage multiple projects and build client relationships
- Chartered or Incorporated status welcomed at Principal level; applications encouraged from experienced engineers progressing toward qualification
- Experience with BIM and digital engineering practices is valued
