As a Senior Architect, you will set the architectural direction for a large, diverse engineering program and act as the premier technical authority. You will shape mission-critical enterprise systems, data ecosystems, and AI integration strategies that align with business goals. You’ll drive the target state, design patterns, and architectural governance across a heterogeneous stack. You collaborate with stakeholders to translate strategy into scalable, secure, and AI-ready architectures. Responsibilities
- Define and own end-to-end target state architecture across diverse systems, data platforms, and cloud integrations
- Publish, maintain, and champion architectural blueprints, design patterns, and engineering excellence standards
- Lead the Architecture Review Board (ARB) process for the domain, ensuring designs meet NFRs such as scalability, maintainability, performance, latency, and security
- AI Architecture Roadmap: lead architecture for integrating AI/ML capabilities (including Generative AI) into enterprise products
- AI Governance & Security: establish secure guardrails, data privacy controls, and ethical compliance for AI in a regulated environment
- Developer Productivity: promote AI-driven tooling to boost developer velocity and code quality
- Data Readiness: architect scalable data pipelines (MLOps/LLMOps) for model training, fine-tuning, and low-latency inference
- Act as senior technical leader and mentor to Principal Engineers and Tech Leads across domains
- Ensure architectural coherence across a diverse technology stack while balancing standardization with agile delivery
- Take ownership of technical debt management and long-term platform health
- Lead technical investigations into performance bottlenecks, incidents, and architectural pivots
- Remain hands-on in R&D: prototype, PoCs, and validate AI tool/cloud service assumptions before scaling
Key requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years as Principal or Senior Architect
- Extensive data architecture experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and large-scale data processing (Data Mesh/Lakehouse)
- Strong background in data integration and relational platforms
- Proven experience designing highly available Hybrid and Multi-Cloud architectures (Azure & AWS)
- AI/ML exposure for architectures supporting AI workloads, including LLMs, predictive analytics, and vector search
- Enterprise governance & security understanding for London financial services sector
- SRE-aware design, observability, and cloud-native resilience patterns
