Overview

In this role you will support site maintenance to boost plant performance and reliability, perform fault finding and RCA, and manage preventative maintenance schedules. You will lead or contribute to process improvement projects to enhance safety and efficiency, respond to breakdowns, and train production personnel in basic maintenance. You will work with suppliers and contractors to upgrade equipment and maintain records for management review. This position places you at the heart of Hexcel’s maintenance excellence at the Duxford site, enabling reliable operations in a high-tech composites environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance activities across the site to improve plant performance and reliability
  • Carry out fault finding, repairs and implement root cause corrective actions
  • Develop, execute and maintain planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Support projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance safety and production efficiency
  • Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and equipment manuals
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC and drive-related issues
  • Liaise with suppliers, OEMs and contractors to support equipment improvements and maintenance activities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide daily reports to management and stakeholders
  • Train production personnel in basic maintenance activities and machine set-up procedures

Key requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience as an electrically biased maintenance engineer within a manufacturing or process environment
  • Electrical and mechanical qualifications as listed (Level 3 NVQ/HNC and apprenticeship)
  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification
  • Knowledge of PLCs and variable speed drives (desirable)
  • ATEX, DSEAR and COMPEX training or awareness (desirable)
  • IOSH qualification desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organisational and time management skills
