Overview
As Building Services Mechanical Engineer this role focuses on maintaining a broad range of mechanical systems across both Mechanical and Building Fabric disciplines. You will work within the Building Services team to uphold high maintenance standards, respond to reactive requests, and proactively manage equipment. You will interact with Facilities, Security and IS helpdesk to coordinate repairs and emergency responses, ensuring reliable, safe building operations. This role offers hands-on technical work with a clear impact on uptime and service quality.
Responsibilities
- Maintain mechanical systems including Air Handling, Chilled Water, LP/HTW, and Air Conditioning
- Oversee Fire Sprinkler, UPS, and emergency generator systems
- Manage Building Fabric elements such as Lifts, Dock Levellers, and Auto/Static doors
- Respond to requests from Facilities, Security, and IS helpdesk promptly
- Assist Property team in repairing defective equipment
- Provide emergency response for essential equipment breakdowns
- Ensure regular maintenance of machinery and equipment to high standards
- Monitor Building Management Systems and liaise with sub-contractors
- Identify and rectify defects in a timely manner
- Support plumbing and mechanical installations as required
- Complete time sheets, task sheets, and manage stock control
- Order consumables and manage administrative tasks
Key requirements
- Mechanical qualifications or general building maintenance qualification
- Proven experience in a similar Building Services role
- Working knowledge of Planned Preventative Maintenance regimes
- Ability to fault-find issues with Heating, Hot Water, Plumbing, HVAC systems, and more
- Understanding of fire sprinkler, UPS, and emergency generator systems
- Basic PC skills and Health & Safety awareness
