Overview

In this role you join Houlihan Lokey’s Financial Valuation Advisory Services, working on valuing complex structured assets and providing market-informed valuation analyses. You’ll be part of an engagement team with exposure to a broad range of valuations and client interactions, including due diligence and deliverable preparation. The position offers training in valuation techniques and tools, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence several days per week. You’ll contribute to client-facing discussions and internal reviews, shaping insights for senior management and boards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and value structured products, asset-backed loans, loan pools, and other illiquid securities
  • Set valuation assumptions from historical performance, collateral type, and economic scenarios
  • Apply discounted cash flow framework to derive value indications
  • Conduct market research and calibrate proprietary valuation models with market data
  • Review and compile published financial information across asset classes
  • Assist in preparing client deliverables (valuation reports, pitch materials)
  • Participate in due diligence meetings and respond to auditor questions on valuation analyses
  • Present valuation analyses to review committees, clients’ senior management, and fiduciaries
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative assessments on distribution reports and financial statements
  • Research general economic and industry conditions and investment attributes of illiquid securities
  • Assist with sales and marketing initiatives for clients
  • Provide ad-hoc research and analytics to FVA project teams as required

Key requirements

  • 3–5+ years of work experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or equivalent quantitative field
  • Fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
  • Knowledge of RMBS/CMBS, ABS, and CLO valuation
  • Understanding of basic probability and statistics
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to model discounted cash flows
  • Strong problem solving and complex financial model skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to prepare reports and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and travel for due diligence as required
