Independent Assurance Nuclear Safety Engineer

Overview

In this role you will provide independent assurance on nuclear safety, focusing on design and safety case aspects, and guide the company on safety, licensing, and compliance. You will participate in INA activities, including independent safety assessment of plant changes, while collaborating with internal regulators and cross-functional teams. This position supports a broad portfolio from generation to long-term operation projects, offering impact across safety cases and regulatory engagements. Responsibilities

• Provide independent assessment to ensure plant modifications are conceived, justified and implemented correctly
• Contribute to INA assurance that plant operation and maintenance meet the Safety Case
• Represent INA at internal and ONR technical meetings
• Conduct surveillance and reporting per the Model of Internal Regulation
• Contribute to internal regulation activity reporting across the organisation
• Develop and implement oversight arrangements for specific projects
• Fulfil Nuclear Safety Engineer role per Safety Case Management process
• Receive mentoring and training to achieve required qualification

Key requirements

• Degree level or equivalent in engineering or science
• Demonstrable experience in Nuclear Safety areas such as Structural Integrity or Nuclear Graphite
• Practical experience with safety case arrangements for higher category safety cases (author, verifier, or case officer)
• Appreciation of regulatory processes and Nuclear Power Plant operation and compliance knowledge
• Ability to provide meaningful challenge and engage in problem solving, decision-making, negotiation and influencing
