Overview
In this fixed-term role, you will lead the ongoing development and maintenance of the QMS to meet contractual requirements and ISO standards. You’ll guide a multidisciplinary quality team, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement across projects. You will act as the primary quality contact for the client, shaping risk mitigation and supplier quality efforts. This is an opportunity to impact rail projects through structured quality governance and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Develop and update documentation (Manual, processes, procedures, controls) per contractual and ISO requirements
- Create and implement a Project Quality Plan and Audit Schedule to ensure QMS adherence
- Analyze non-conformances for trends and root causes; report to senior management and drive preventative actions
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary Quality Team to conduct inspections, audits, and reviews
- Coordinate with project managers, technical leads, operations managers, and client representatives
- Identify quality risks and implement mitigation to protect delivery and contractual obligations
- Provide training on quality management best practices to project teams
- Develop a Supplier Quality Plan and review supplier performance data for improvements
- Lead lessons learned to embed continuous improvement
- Measure cost of poor quality and implement corrective actions
- Prepare and present regular quality reports to stakeholders
- Act as main customer contact on quality matters and drive customer satisfaction
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline
- Quality management certifications (e.g., IRCA Internal Auditor ISO 9001, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer)
- Experience in Quality Management, ideally in transportation systems, fare collection, IT operations, or complex technological projects
- Experience leading quality teams in operational and technological environments
- Proven track record in implementing ISO 9001 or similar standards
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and back-office or service desk operations preferred
- Experience working with UK public-sector clients, ideally within transport or infrastructure environments
- Strong knowledge of international and UK quality management standards
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
