Overview
In this role you will lead engineering for the Power Grids team across the UK, directing design and installation activities for 66kV-525kV systems. You will shape technical governance, act as the authority on cable system design, and drive capability development and continuous improvement. You’ll partner with customers, utilities, and regulators to deliver safe, compliant, and innovative transmission projects. Responsibilities
- Direct and develop System Design, Installation Design, and Cable Accessories engineering to support transmission, distribution and renewables projects.
- Provide technical leadership and governance for transmission projects ensuring compliance with standards and Prysmian procedures.
- Act as technical authority for cable system design, installation engineering, and cable accessory applications, reviewing key deliverables.
- Lead engineering resource planning, competency development, and succession planning.
- Support tendering and business development with technical leadership, risk assessment, and innovative solutions.
- Manage interfaces with customers, consultants, contractors, utilities, and regulators, building long-term relationships with TSOs/DSOs.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, standardisation, and lessons learned.
- Ensure compliance with Prysmian quality, health and safety, CDM, temporary works, and governance.
- Support development and implementation of new cable system technologies and installation methodologies.
Key requirements
- Degree in Engineering and member of a professional engineering institution
- Experience in an engineering role, knowledge of cable systems preferred or civil engineering acceptable
- Computer literacy with AutoCad, databases, and spreadsheets
