Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead multiple engineering teams to evolve the supply platform architecture, tooling, and operations. You’ll shape the long-term technical vision for supply integration and scaling across Trainline’s platform, partnering with product, data science, commercial, and supply stakeholders. The role focuses on platform modernization, scalable architectures, and AI-enabled workflows to boost efficiency and impact. You’ll drive high-performing teams, cultivate experimentation, and deliver measurable outcomes that support the company’s green travel mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multiple engineering teams and managers to foster growth and inclusive leadership
  • Define and drive the long-term technical vision for supply integration, management, and scaling
  • Own end-to-end delivery across the Supply Platform domain with measurable operational and business impact
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Commercial, and Supply teams to align technical strategy with business needs
  • Promote AI-enabled and agentic workflows to improve scalability, automation, and efficiency
  • Manage large-scale platform modernization and architectural transformation initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership on platform architecture, APIs, system interactions, and operational workflows
  • Champion engineering excellence with resilient, observable, and scalable systems and a culture of experimentation and learning

Key requirements

  • Significant experience leading multiple engineering teams in platform, distributed systems, or large-scale tech environments
  • Track record of building inclusive, high-performing engineering organizations and developing future leaders
  • Experience leading platform modernization or large-scale technical change programs in complex environments
  • Ability to balance long-term strategy with pragmatic delivery and operational excellence
  • Experience applying AI, automation, or intelligent workflows to engineering or operational domains
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management across Engineering, Product, Data Science, Commercial, and Operational teams
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving clarity and momentum across teams
  • Experience with APIs, distributed systems, platform architectures, or integration-heavy environments; exposure to platform engineering, workflow orchestration, or operational automation
