Overview

As a Child Care Lawyer, you will represent the Council in child care proceedings and related matters, delivering expert advice and advocacy to secure the best outcomes for children and families. You will manage a focused caseload within the Legal Services team, collaborating with colleagues to support safeguarding and welfare initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Represent the Council in child care proceedings and related legal matters
  • Provide expert legal advice and advocacy for children and families
  • Manage a full caseload (8–10 cases) focused on care proceedings
  • Collaborate within Legal Services to ensure effective safeguarding outcomes
  • Operate with knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and legislation
  • Navigate competing demands and work under pressure

Key requirements

  • CFILEX, barrister, or solicitor (professional qualification)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, regulations and legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting demands and work under pressure
