Senior Consulting Engineer

Overview

In this Senior Consulting Engineer role, you will enable customers to adopt MongoDB across diverse environments, from planning and design to deployment and optimization. Remote-based in Great Britain, you’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end implementations and training, acting as a trusted advisor. You’ll tackle technically sophisticated problems, share knowledge, and influence product direction through field experience. This is a high-impact, client-facing role that blends deep technical work with customer management.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to customer implementations across the application lifecycle (planning, deployment architectures, development, testing, production operations, optimization)
• Deliver training to architect, developer, and operations roles
• Collaborate with delivery teams including project managers and account teams
• Build and maintain MongoDB reputation as a trusted advisor for customers
• Influence product roadmap through field experience and customer feedback
• Ensure client success with MongoDB initiatives and maintain billable utilization
• Pursue continuous personal and team improvement and knowledge sharing
• Partner with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap

Key requirements

• 10+ years of software development, consulting, or support experience
• Proficiency in at least one language: Java, C#, Python, Node.js, Ruby, Go
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Linux diagnostics and tuning; Windows tuning is a plus
• Experience with enterprise-scale software architectures, development methodologies, and deployment/operations
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
• High motivation for a role combining technical work with customer management
• Confidence speaking and presenting in collaborative customer settings
• Willingness to travel up to 15% for short customer site visits
• Experience working with Public Sector customers
