Overview

In this role you will architect and own Helsing’s electrical systems for platform platforms, shaping electrical architectures and bespoke electronics from concept to validated prototypes. You will translate third-party datasheets into robust design decisions, collaborating with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to accelerate hardware development. Your work directly supports field-ready defence capabilities and progress in our hardware programme. You will operate in a mission-driven culture that values ethical considerations and cross-functional impact.

Responsibilities

  • Define electrical architecture for platforms, including wiring diagrams, power distribution, signal routing, grounding, and interfaces
  • Design, build, and validate PCBs across power, digital, and mixed-signal domains from schematic to bring-up
  • Select and specify components (sensors, actuators, controllers, power) with rigorous trade-offs
  • Design and integrate cable harnesses, connectors, and interfaces (CAN Bus, Ethernet, RS422/485) for reliable data and power distribution
  • Define and execute unit-level tests, support system-level integration and troubleshooting across hardware/software boundaries
  • Produce design documentation (schematics, BOMs, integration drawings) using Altium Designer or KiCad
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, software, systems) to ensure hardware decisions integrate with the wider platform

Key requirements

  • Professional experience in electrical/electronic system design and integration in aerospace or similar demanding domains
  • Ability to read and apply third-party datasheets and technical documentation to design decisions
  • Hands-on PCB design and layout experience with ECAD tools (Altium Designer, KiCad) and LTSpice
  • Experience in cross-disciplinary teams and ECAD/MCAD co-design
  • Strong written and spoken English communication
