Overview
In this role you lead civil/structural design for high-voltage projects, shaping technical delivery and assurance within Jacobs’ T&D focus. You’ll steer FEED through detailed design, coordinating with global centers, sub-consultants and clients to meet standards. Your work supports energy transition initiatives and complex multi-disciplinary schemes. Responsibilities
- Lead civil/structural design packages from concept to construction support for national grid and DNO clients
- Develop civil layouts for substations (platforms, foundations, drainage, access roads, ducting, fencing, security)
- Prepare/review calculations, drawings, and specifications in line with Eurocodes and DNO standards
- Conduct design reviews and risk assessments
- Ensure CDM 2015 compliance and adherence to Jacobs quality processes
- Manage resources and deliverables within budgets and timelines
- Coordinate with global design centres, sub-consultants, and suppliers using BIM/CDE (Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation)
- Support client meetings, technical presentations, and tender submissions
- Maintain stakeholder relationships and mentor junior engineers
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartered status
- Experience delivering complex civil projects in Energy Transition
- Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings
- CAD experience (AutoCAD or MicroStation) preferred but not essential
