Cable Project Manager

Overview

As Cable Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of HV/EHV cable projects across the UK from design to energisation. You will drive programmes, budgets and resources while coordinating design, construction and commissioning teams and ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance. You will act as a key client contact, manage subcontractors, and oversee risk, change control and reporting to keep projects on time and within budget. This role offers meaningful impact in critical energy infrastructure and cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable transmission assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of HV/EHV cable projects from inception through to completion
• Manage project programmes, budgets, forecasts and resource requirements
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design, commercial, construction and commissioning functions
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders
• Oversee subcontractors, suppliers and specialist cable installation teams
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, industry standards and company procedures
• Review and approve RAMS, project documentation and construction programmes
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Lead project meetings and provide regular progress reporting
• Ensure successful testing, commissioning and energisation of cable systems
• Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance
• Support commercial management, change control and NEC contract administration

Key requirements

• Proven experience delivering 66kV, 132kV, 275kV or 400kV cable infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of transmission and distribution networks
• Experience managing cable route construction and installation activities
• Knowledge of cable jointing, testing and commissioning processes
• Experience working under NEC contracts
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills
• Good understanding of CDM Regulations and UK Health & Safety legislation
• Demonstrable experience managing budgets, schedules and project performance
