Overview
Senior Geotechnical Engineer role in London, joining a large UK team to deliver geotechnical design and ground investigations across projects. You will develop ground models, support planning applications and ES, and oversee intrusive investigations and reporting. You’ll lead and mentor engineers, coordinating multiple projects while ensuring compliant, innovative solutions. Responsibilities
- Develop ground and conceptual site models from desk studies and GI data
- Provide input for Planning Applications and Environmental Statements
- Design and manage intrusive ground investigations and interpret reports
- Oversee piling, earthworks and foundation processes
- Lead temporary and permanent works design and ensure robust project outcomes
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and align workload with resources
- Coordinate multiple projects for diverse clients with competing deadlines
- Understand fee structures, budgeting and commercial drivers in a consultancy
- Oversee earthworks specifications, monitoring, and report validation
- Apply soil-structure interaction knowledge across slope stability, foundation design, ground movement and retaining structures
Key requirements
- 4+ years in a civil or geotechnical consultancy in the UK
- BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or BEng in Civil Engineering
- Ideally MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
- Ideally Chartered Geologist or Chartered Engineer
- Experience with National Highways CD 622; familiarity with London Underground and Network Rail standards; temporary works design
