Overview

In this role you solve high-impact geotechnical challenges within a multidisciplinary team, guiding project direction and resource allocation. You contribute expert analysis and innovative solutions for complex foundation and soil-structure problems across onshore and offshore contexts. You will lead geotechnical activities, collaborate with civil and other engineering disciplines, and mentor others to uphold technical excellence. This position offers strategic influence on project outcomes and technical direction, centered on high-level design and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design in accordance with design basis and standards
  • Apply in-depth knowledge to address complex/nonstandard problems
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures
  • Manage own time and forecast/plan resource needs as Geotechnical Group Lead
  • Communicate complex concepts and persuade stakeholders to adopt viewpoints
  • Lead a Geotechnical project team on schedules and budgets, coordinating scope, deliverables, and manpower
  • Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly defined and progress is monitored
  • Represent Geotechnical discipline in meetings with project teams, customers, and authorities
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to provide technical input for multidisciplinary projects
  • Prepare scope of geotechnical/site investigations and laboratory test programs for pipelines and LNG/petrochemical plants
  • Perform geotechnical calculations for foundations, soil-structure interaction, and seismic/dynamic analyses
  • Assess geohazards and provide risk mitigation recommendations
  • Contribute to novel foundation concepts
  • Report to Civil Department Manager and coordinate with various stakeholders

Key requirements

  • 15-20 years of oil and gas experience with major contractors or consultants in detailed design
  • Detailed knowledge of design techniques, analyses, standards/codes (e.g., Eurocode 7)
  • Project coordination and execution skills
  • Possession or eligibility for Chartered Engineer status (IEng/CEng or similar)
  • Proven ability to produce accurate geotechnical work and demonstrate high knowledge level
  • Ability to provide technical input, leadership, and project documentation including reports and drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to mentor others
  • Experience with ground investigation methods and laboratory test planning for foundation design
  • Familiarity with offshore foundation design preferred
  • Experience with numerical modelling and geotechnical software (FE analysis, SLOPE, ABAQUS) preferred but not required
