Overview
In this Compliance Manager role within the second line of defence, you will manage regulatory engagement activities and monitor developments to guide strategic decisions. You will coordinate with regulators and industry bodies, support senior leaders with external interactions, and ensure alignment with policy requirements. Your work will involve shaping responses to consultations and guiding business units on regulatory risks and opportunities. You will serve as a subject-matter expert on regulatory trends, contributing to the organisation’s regulatory stance and long-term risk management.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate engagement with regulators
- Develop and maintain relationships with key regulatory contacts to support objectives
- Support senior leaders in external regulatory interactions and prepare briefing materials
- Oversee compliance with the Regulatory Engagement Policy
- Lead or coordinate responses to FCA consultations, discussion papers, and calls for evidence
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to form clear organisational positions on regulatory developments
- Partner with business leaders to identify emerging regulatory risks and opportunities
- Act as a subject-matter expert on regulatory developments and their strategic implications
Key requirements
- Experience managing regulatory engagement activities within a UK financial services organisation
- Strong track record building relationships with regulators, policymakers, industry bodies, and other external stakeholders
- Experience representing organisations in external forums and influencing policy discussions
- Excellent knowledge of current and emerging regulatory issues impacting investment, wealth management, or broader financial services markets
- Proven ability to analyse complex regulatory and policy developments
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with credibility and influence across the organisation
