Overview
In this role you will drive capability development for aerospace component repair and overhaul, partnering with Operations and Engineering to expand repair solutions and support production in a regulated environment. You will lead NPD/NPI efforts, reverse engineer components, and design tooling to enable scalable capabilities. The work blends hands-on engineering with documentation, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance operational performance. Responsibilities
- Evaluate aircraft components and systems to develop repair/overhaul solutions
- Reverse engineer components to support capability expansion
- Design, analyze, validate, and approve tooling using FMEA/FEA
- Lead and support NPD projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery
- Produce engineering documentation (reports, drawings, specifications, analyses)
- Support NPI activities and develop workshop procedures and technical documentation
- Facilitate transfer of new capabilities from Engineering to Operations
- Provide technical Operations support via Engineering Support Tickets
- Maintain and control technical records and compliant documentation
- Design, develop, and improve tooling, fixtures and test equipment
- Apply industrial engineering techniques to establish standard times and identify process improvements
- Support root case investigations and implement corrective actions
- Adhere to QEHS policies and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Engage in Kaizen, GEMBA walks, 5S, and continuous improvement projects
- Support change management initiatives
Key requirements
- Experience in engineering within aerospace, aviation, MRO, or regulated industries
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical aircraft components and assemblies
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, technical documentation and manufacturing processes
- Proven experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving (FMEA, 8D, 5 Why)
- Experience designing tooling, fixtures, test equipment or test rigs
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably Fusion 360
- Experience using engineering analysis tools such as FEA
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and quality
