Finance Project Controller

Overview

In this role you lead a finance team to support Project Managers across project setup, forecasting, invoicing and closure in line with Arcadis Way. You collaborate with Finance Controllers to ensure accurate performance reporting, manage working capital, and escalate risks. You will coach Project Managers on financial processes, drive continuous improvement, and help shape project profitability and commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop direct reports (Project Accounting Specialists, Project Finance Analyst)
• Build trusted relationships with Business Directors to ensure quality and service
• Drive working capital improvements via timely billing and cash collection coordination
• Train Project Managers on Oracle and support where required
• Advise on efficient project-set up structures and IFRS revenue recognition
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
• Support project reforecasting and challenge performance changes for accurate month-end reporting
• Lead robust project forecasting and ensure movements in forecast/backlog are realistic and well supported
• Provide management information to Business/Operations Directors and support business planning & estimates
• Comply with Arcadis Way policies and procedures
• Support ad-hoc travel across UK locations

Key requirements

• Fully Qualified accounting qualification or equivalent by experience
• Experience in a medium/large organisation
• Strong Excel and ERP proficiency (medium)
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good time management and team-organising abilities
