Senior Project Manager

Overview

In this role you lead complex engineering and business projects within a defens e-focused, technically challenging environment. You will own projects from initiation to delivery and coordinate across engineering, commercial, technical and business teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. The role includes exposure to bids, tenders and new business, offering a balance of delivery and shaping future opportunities. You will mentor peers and drive improved project delivery practices, while engaging with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex engineering and business projects from initiation to delivery
• Own project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, risks and opportunities
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering, technical and commercial teams
• Manage customers, suppliers and senior internal stakeholders
• Provide clear project reporting and drive actions to resolve issues
• Support bids and tenders through estimating, planning and delivery strategy
• Translate customer requirements into achievable project plans
• Manage changing priorities, requirements and dependencies
• Improve project delivery processes and project management practices
• Support and mentor less experienced project managers where appropriate

Key requirements

• Experience in complex engineering, technical or product development projects
• Background in defence, aerospace, manufacturing or other regulated industries
• Multidisciplinary project delivery
• Bid management, tendering, estimating or new business
• Managing budgets, schedules, resources, risks and opportunities
• Customer-facing delivery and senior stakeholder management
• Formal project governance and delivery frameworks
• Strong communication and influencing skills, commercial awareness, structured problem-solving and ownership in complex environments
