Overview

As Commercial Finance Manager, you will partner with Consulting and Sector Units to provide real-time financial insight and strategic commercial support. You’ll influence decisions on bids, pricing, and delivery to create value while ensuring rigorous reporting and forecasting. You’ll lead ad-hoc analyses and contribute to growth projects, engaging senior leaders with clear, actionable insights. This role offers visibility across functions and a chance to shape financial strategy in a global professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic business partnering with client and Go-to-Market levels; deliver forward-looking financial analysis and performance reporting
  • Present insights to stakeholders in impactful formats to drive action
  • Educate Unit Leads, Partners, and Consultants on financial principles and commercial acumen
  • Lead workshops on finance topics such as bid modelling, the PA model and value creation strategies
  • Provide commercial risk management support including open book reporting and high-risk assignment reviews
  • Engage across the full lifecycle of service delivery, ensuring sound financial setup, pricing, and risk mitigation
  • Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting with variance analysis
  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, and sensitivity modelling; perform earned-value analysis
  • Monitor job profitability against bid projections and advise on corrective actions
  • Oversee subcontractor arrangements, invoicing, payment terms, and debt collection
  • Actively manage contract risk portfolios and advise on currency, taxation, and interest implications
  • Prepare for internal audits, coordinate with auditors, and ensure SOX compliance
  • Oversee risk and controls, monitor spend anomalies, and implement corrective actions

Key requirements

  • UK 2:1 degree-equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders
  • Cross-functional relationship management
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Experience in a global professional services environment and/or UK Government desirable
