Overview
As Principal Firmware Engineer you will own the low-level firmware design, development and debugging for next-generation SoC products in a fast-growing deep-tech semiconductor company. You’ll collaborate with hardware and architecture teams across the full lifecycle—from pre-silicon validation to post-silicon bring-up—shaping robust, secure embedded software. This role focuses on high-performance, secure firmware while solving complex system challenges. You will work in a London-based, hybrid environment and have a meaningful impact on secure, scalable SoC software.
Responsibilities
- own firmware design, development and debugging for SoC products
- collaborate with hardware and architecture teams
- drive the full firmware lifecycle from pre-silicon validation to post-silicon bring-up
- develop secure embedded software to meet high-security requirements
- contribute to robust and maintainable firmware suitable for production
- stakeholder communication with cross-functional teams
Key requirements
- Strong experience in C/C++ for low-level firmware
- Deep experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and peripherals
- Experience developing secure embedded software, including secure boot
- Knowledge of IoT or networking stacks (TCP/IP, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, Matter, Thread) is advantageous
- Ability to work closely with hardware and architecture teams on complex embedded systems
- Senior firmware engineering background with leadership potential
