Principal Process Engineer – Energy

Overview

In this role you lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, sustainable process solutions within Stantec’s Energy & Resources portfolio. You will shape project direction, apply process engineering expertise, and drive digital delivery from modelling to P&IDs. You’ll manage scope, risk and budgets while mentoring others and promoting safe design. The position blends technical leadership with client collaboration to create low‑carbon, high‑value outcomes for energy projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multi‑disciplinary project teams
• Lead digital delivery strategies including process modelling, mass balances, and P&IDs
• Utilise specialised software to develop engineering solutions and ensure project success
• Manage project scope, risk, budgets and team performance
• Mentor and coach process engineers for professional growth
• Support safe design practices and foster continuous improvement in HSE culture
• Collaborate with clients on-site and remotely to ensure alignment and delivery

Key requirements

• degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline
• member of a relevant engineering institution (IChemE)
• experience in energy, water, or broader process industries
• strong technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects
• experience managing people, tasks, budgets, scope and risk
• client-facing experience on-site and remote
