Senior Data Scientist & Machine Learning Researcher

Overview

In this role, you will contribute to the Strategic Research Group by developing novel AI/ML solutions for mission-focused problems. You will work closely with senior colleagues on end-to-end projects, from scoping ideas to delivery, in customer and internal domains. You will explore new directions, communicate technical concepts to leaders, and mentor junior team members. This role offers a chance to shape research directions while operating in a cross-functional, security-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex, data-centric ML solutions with minimal guidance
• Scope, design and deliver data-driven solutions across disciplines
• Conduct research and applied AI/ML tasks on customer and internal projects
• Generate ideas for new research directions and provide technical leadership in small project groups
• Mentor junior team members within project teams and the SRG
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to choose technical approaches and execute development for delivery

Key requirements

• BSc in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
• Experience coding in Python and ML packages (HuggingFace, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Established track record delivering ML solutions to customers and internal stakeholders
• Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms for various data types and tasks (Generative AI, NLP, computer vision)
• Experience training and developing AI models including Large Language Models
• Ability to produce high-quality scientific writing for stakeholders and publications
• Experience mentoring team members and providing technical leadership on projects
• SC clearance and eDV clearance (or ability to obtain)
