Operations Manager / Plant Manager

Overview

In this senior role, you will own the day-to-day performance of a busy Sheffield manufacturing site, driving safety, quality and delivery. You’ll lead cross-functional teams to meet output targets while building robust operations and continuous improvement. You’ll shape a culture of zero injuries and zero defects, embedding structured systems for planning, KPIs and reporting. This position offers significant impact in a growing fabrication business and opportunities to influence long-term site performance. You’ll work closely with engineering, projects and leadership to align targets and deliver high-quality products.

Responsibilities

• Champion and lead a zero-injury safety culture with accountability across all shifts
• Maintain and enforce a zero defect, right-first-time culture with quality gates at each production stage
• Lead site performance and workflow planning to meet productivity targets in a high-standards environment
• Embed and improve structured operational systems (KPIs, planning, reporting) to support consistency and continuous improvement
• Lead and develop the operations team with clear communication and accountability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, projects and senior leadership for smooth delivery and aligned targets
• Reinforce internal procedures, compliance and H&S protocols in line with company standards and accreditations

Key requirements

• Senior Operations Management experience within a complex manufacturing or engineering environment
• Proven track record leading production teams, ideally in multi-shift operations
• Strong experience with operational systems: KPIs, planning, resource management, safety and compliance
• Deep understanding of quality control and process gates throughout production
• Lean, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement knowledge and practical implementation
• Excellent leadership and people management skills; hands-on, clear and structured
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and be fully accountable for site delivery
