Investment & Commercial Manager

Overview

In this role you shape value from major renewable investments, focusing on offshore wind. You will provide commercial and financial insight to guide investment decisions across complex projects and portfolios, working with cross-functional teams to manage risk and maximise returns. You’ll lead commercial input into contracts and ensure revenue protection and regulatory compliance. The position supports SSE’s net-zero transition and portfolio-wide optimisation, offering a meaningful impact across large-scale assets.

Responsibilities

• Maximise value across renewable energy investments and opportunities to improve revenues and reduce costs
• Provide clear commercial and financial insight to support investment decisions across complex projects and portfolios
• Lead commercial input into key contracts with Procurement, Legal and Operations to secure balanced outcomes
• Challenge and utilise financial models to test assumptions and support evidence-based decisions
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align strategy, manage uncertainty and unlock portfolio-wide benefits
• Ensure Revenue & Compliance, including Balancing Mechanism, ancillary services and REGO, to protect revenue and minimise risk

Key requirements

• Strong commercial and financial skills with experience on complex projects or investments, ideally in Renewables Wind, Energy or Power Generation
• Experience with contracts and negotiations and understanding of how commercial terms create or protect value
• Confidence with financial models and ability to interpret, question and improve them
• Ability to influence and collaborate across teams
• Curious, improvement-focused mindset with experience delivering value or optimisation initiatives in changing environments
