Overview

Senior Civil Engineer at Stantec will contribute to the UK energy transition by delivering civil design across a broad portfolio of energy projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary team through early concept design to site support, helping to deliver sustainable, resilient infrastructure. The role spans hydropower, energy-from-waste, nuclear, hydrogen, and transmission and distribution, with advisory and delivery responsibilities. You’ll collaborate with managers, leaders, and clients to ensure robust, deliverable designs and high-quality outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead civil design across full project lifecycle from concept to detail design and site support
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, geotechnical, M&E) to deliver coordinated designs
• Provide Owner’s Engineer duties, contractor-facing design support, troubleshooting, and due diligence
• Contribute to advisory activities and risk management throughout the project lifecycle
• Engage with clients and project managers to ensure high-quality outcomes and value delivery
• Support integration of 3D design and Common Data Environments (CDEs) in delivery
• Deliver technically robust solutions for energy infrastructure projects across multiple sectors

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council and ICE
• Experience in civil design across waterpower/dams, hydropower/pumped storage, WtE or energy from waste, or transmission and distribution
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary integration and coordination across civil, structural, geotechnical and M&E
• Experience producing technical specifications, designs, and reports
• Experience delivering designs for end clients and design & build contractors (desirable)
• Comfort working in a 3D design environment and with CDEs
