Overview

As Development Manager you will lead a large, multi-facility estate, ensuring proactive, compliant, and value-driven management. You will work within FirstPort’s Four Pillar approach to deliver service excellence and well-maintained developments for residents. You shape customer experience, safety, and performance through effective leadership of on-site teams and cross-functional collaboration. This role combines people leadership, operations, and financial oversight to sustain high standards and resident satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Deliver high service levels and act as representative to customers, clients, and developers while keeping the development well-presented and maintained
  • Build and maintain relationships with Residents Association committees and similar bodies, attending meetings as needed
  • Identify and deliver staff training, conduct performance reviews, and coach direct reports to meet KPIs and SLAs
  • Monitor performance, manage leave and cover, and arrange emergency shifts as required
  • Control costs, review expenditures, assist with service charges, and present bi-monthly financial summaries
  • Lead proactive meetings with customers/contractors/clients and address issues within agreed deadlines
  • Investigate complaints up to Stage 1 and coordinate with Regional Manager for Stage 2 responses
  • Conduct risk assessments and health and safety checks; ensure timely actions and necessary testing
  • Supervise contractors and manage works orders, ensuring timely delivery and quality of outcomes
  • Perform regular site inspections and remedial actions to maintain fabric and meet KPIs
  • Respond to emergency queries outside office hours and coordinate attendance as needed
  • Maintain the building’s fabric through inspections and repairs to a high standard

Key requirements

  • Operational management experience of a large, complex estate with multiple facilities
  • Strong health and safety expertise and track record of implementing new systems
  • People leadership experience with ability to develop a team and improve performance
  • Financial acumen to set budgets in line with lease agreements
  • Experience in mobilising new developments and working with property developers (beneficial)
