Business Analyst – Commodities Trading

Overview

In this role you will analyse trading needs and translate them into actionable requirements for trading technology. You will collaborate with business stakeholders and engineering teams to understand end-to-end trading workflows and data flows. You’ll assess existing trading applications and interfaces, map requirements to technical specs, and support testing, implementation and business acceptance. The role focuses on a short-term, technology-facing engagement in London with a strong commodities trading background. You will help bridge business needs with technical delivery to enable effective trading operations.

Responsibilities

• Understand business needs, processes and system requirements with trading and technology stakeholders
• Gather, analyze and document business and functional requirements
• Translate trading requirements into specifications for technology/engineering teams
• Analyze end-to-end trading workflows and data flows
• Assess impact of changes on existing trading applications and interfaces
• Collaborate with technical teams on solution design to meet business needs
• Support data analysis, mapping and validation as needed
• Facilitate discussions to resolve requirement or solution gaps
• Support testing, implementation and business acceptance of changes

Key requirements

• Strong BA experience within Commodities / Energy Trading
• Hands-on domain experience across Oil, Gas and/or Power trading
• Understanding of commodity trading lifecycle and technology landscape
• Experience in Commodities IT / Trading Technology environments
• Strong requirements gathering, process analysis and documentation
• Good understanding of trading systems, data flows and integrations
• Ability to work with both business stakeholders and technical teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
