Overview

In this role you will support the MoD Main Building by delivering maintenance services for electrical systems, performing inspections, testing and installation work within a defence estate. You will work within the facilities management team, ensuring safety compliance and reliable operation of LV/ELV networks. The position offers hands-on problem solving, calibration of sensitive equipment and active participation in planned maintenance programs. This is a security-sensitive role in a high-stakes environment with opportunities to contribute to critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment, plant, services and systems including inspection and testing of electrical equipment and installations
  • Diagnose faults and repair complex equipment within PMS timeframes
  • Support operation and control of the engineering planned maintenance scheme
  • Carry out electrical installations for new work or alterations in compliance with regulations
  • Work on ELV/LV and generated electrical systems safely as a Competent Person (LV)
  • Add basic mechanical works within electrical-to-mechanical conversion scope
  • Complete report sheets and test certificates as required
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment to fine tolerances within safety guidelines

Key requirements

  • Commercial or relevant trade experience
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation; COSHH knowledge
  • BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent
  • Recognised apprenticeship
  • Certificate in 18th Edition IEE Regulation (Current)
  • Security clearance may be required and UK residency considerations
