Overview

In this role you will lead the delivery of structural designs within a design-led practice, translating architectural concepts into sound structures. You will work in a collaborative studio environment, interfacing with architects, clients, and contractors to shape diverse, high-impact projects. You’ll gain hands-on site exposure and progress towards Chartership while mentoring and developing technical and leadership skills. This position offers exposure to urban developments, luxury residences, and education sector schemes, with a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainable engineering. Responsibilities

  • Lead smaller projects from concept to on-site completion
  • Translate architectural visions into stable structural solutions
  • Interface with architects, clients, and contractors to manage expectations
  • Contribute to a diverse portfolio (urban, residential, education) with independent project ownership
  • Benefit from structured mentoring and hands-on site experience
  • Collaborate within a social, cross-disciplinary studio to drive design-led outcomes

Key requirements

  • 3–6 years post-graduate experience in a UK structural engineering consultancy
  • Strong design proficiency across steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and masonry
  • Interest or experience in reducing embodied carbon in structural schemes
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently and be the main point of contact for stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Tekla, Tedds, or similar design software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ambition to pursue Chartership with IStructE or ICE
  • BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
