Overview

In this Senior Civil Engineer role, you contribute to a broad portfolio of energy projects across the UK, from hydropower and pumped storage to energy-from-waste and transmission infrastructure. You work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver design and advisory services, guiding projects from concept to site support. You’ll collaborate with managers, leaders, and clients to ensure robust, deliverable civil solutions that advance sustainable energy. Responsibilities

• Lead civil design activities across project lifecycle (concept to detailed design)
• Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, and M&E disciplines to deliver fully integrated designs
• Provide Owner’s Engineer duties, contractor-facing design, and site support
• Contribute to advisory and due diligence activities to support decision-making and risk management
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure high-quality outcomes and value
• Support development of sustainable energy infrastructure and drive continuous improvement across the team
• Engage in wider engineering community to stay abreast of industry developments

Key requirements

• Civil Engineering degree (Bachelor or Master)
• Progress toward Chartered Engineer status with Engineering Council and ICE
• Experience in civil design for waterpower/dams, hydropower/pumped storage, energy-from-waste, or transmission and distribution
• Ability to integrate multidisciplinary inputs and coordinate across disciplines
• Experience producing specifications, designs, and reports
• Experience delivering designs for end clients and design & build contractors (desirable)
• Comfort working in a 3D design environment and with Common Data Environments (CDEs)
• Collaborative, client-focused approach
