Senior Planning Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead planning-focused delivery for a major transportation infrastructure project from our Manchester team. You will steer strategic planning, governance and performance, while shaping commercial and reputational outcomes. You will manage complex scheduling and Earned Value methodologies, develop high-performing planning teams, and influence clients with clear insights. A key focus is advancing net-zero delivery through collaborative, carbon-conscious project execution. This is a high-energy, on-site role that couples leadership with hands-on planning impact.

Responsibilities

• Deliver client-focused outcomes through strategic planning, governance and performance management
• Lead integrity in commercial negotiations, strategy development and accountable decision-making
• Enable collaboration and inclusive stakeholder engagement to drive project success
• Manage planning, scheduling and EVM methodologies across complex projects
• Develop and lead high-performing planning teams delivering robust project controls
• Influence clients and stakeholders through clear analysis, insight and recommendations
• Support net-zero outcomes through collaborative, carbon-conscious project delivery

Key requirements

• Professional membership or equivalent development (APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE or similar)
• Extensive infrastructure project and programme planning experience
• Strong commercial, financial and senior stakeholder management capability
• Proven leadership of large teams with sustainability and carbon awareness
