Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical design for water and wastewater projects within a UK-focused, design-and-build JV. You will shape the mechanical scope from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe, cost-effective solutions that meet framework standards. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to keep designs on programme and budget while delivering robust, environmentally impactful outcomes. This is a chance to influence major water infrastructure and partner with clients in a one-team approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access and lifting, and above-ground pipe layouts
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers to ensure designs meet programme, budget, and quality targets
  • Collaborate with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe design and construction solutions
  • Engage with clients to manage relationships and promote a one-team approach to achieving aims
  • Support development of the mechanical engineering team through coaching and mentoring engineers and resource planning

Key requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated member of ICE, IMechE, or equivalent experience
  • Effective communication with team members and stakeholders
  • Methodical problem-solving approach
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
