Overview

In this role you steer interior technical refurbishment and safety projects during cruise ship dry docks, aligning with Disney’s quality and safety standards. You’ll work closely with shipboard leadership, shipyards, and vendors to deliver high-impact hotel-area upgrades. The position blends technical interiors expertise with project leadership to keep fleet refurbishments on time and within budget, supporting guest experiences at sea. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with international travel and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute interior technical refurbishment and safety projects during dry docks
  • Develop scopes of work, technical specs, and project docs for contractors
  • Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and support vendor selection/negotiations
  • Coordinate with shipyards, contractors, Disney teams, regulators, and onboard leadership
  • Ensure vendor safety and interior standards meet Disney QA
  • Provide technical expertise on interior systems, product specs, compliance, and best practices
  • Research new ideas, products, and regulatory changes to future-proof Marine & Technical Safety work
  • Manage project budgets, labour, materials, and timelines
  • Oversee consultants, contractors, and vendors to meet Disney quality and safety standards
  • Support purchasing and logistics by defining material/equipment needs
  • Act as key contact for shipboard leadership for progress updates and resource coordination
  • Conduct QA reviews during design, installation, and completion phases
  • Oversee onboard contractor activities during dry docks and ensure safe practices and regulatory compliance
  • Produce regular project updates and reports on progress, risks, budgets, and vendor performance

Key requirements

  • Proven expertise in dry dock management or shipboard hotel/ship services engineering with focus on interior technical systems
  • Project management experience for complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects (planning, execution, budget, schedule)
  • Ability to evaluate and negotiate vendor bids and manage high-value project finances
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills in a multicultural environment
  • Proficiency with IT tools and Microsoft Office for planning and reporting
  • Ability to travel and work across US/UK offices and ship locations
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, interior design, marine technology, or related technical discipline
