Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design work packages from feasibility to handover
- Develop heating, cooling, ventilation, water, controls and plant strategies with low-energy emphasis
- Lead calculations, system selection, design analysis and technical decisions
- Coordinate inputs across disciplines (architecture, structure, electrical, PHE, specialists)
- Manage models, drawings, reports, specs and quality targets
- Review work, guide junior engineers, and provide feedback
- Plan discipline inputs, forecast time, coordinate resources, and support bids or client discussions
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or close to chartership
- Strong practical understanding of mechanical services and plant coordination
- Experience delivering mechanical design for new build, refurbishment or retrofit projects
- Ability to lead design elements and coordinate small multidisciplinary teams
- Interest in sustainable building design and operational performance
- Experience with modelling tools such as IES, TAS, EnergyPlus or DesignBuilder
- Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, CIBSE guidance, health and safety and best practices
