Overview

As an Associate/Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design delivery for datacentre projects, collaborating with electrical engineers and maintaining strong client engagement. You’ll guide and check the work of mechanical engineers while contributing to critical design production to meet project needs. You’ll work on cooling, ventilation, automation & control, and allied systems, applying building physics, CFD and sustainable design principles. This role focuses on technical delivery and client care within Ramboll’s Data Centre Facilities team, offering growth and meaningful impact in a mission-critical domain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Ramboll’s representation on datacentre projects, directing your discipline and managing engineers from a complementary discipline
  • Drive project delivery with initiative and minimal supervision across technical aspects of your discipline
  • Use design production tools (CAD, Bluebeam, calculations, BIM collaboration) to develop solutions
  • Complete detailed designs and supervise others in design production
  • Inspire internal and external confidence to strengthen client relationships
  • Commit to and manage project delivery timelines
  • As mechanical project lead, coordinate tasks to meet deadlines and allocate resources

Key requirements

  • Qualified engineer with a proven track record in their discipline
  • Experience with mission-critical systems in datacentre or similar environments (pharmaceutical, healthcare, etc.)
  • CIBSE / IET / IMechE accredited honours degree, or HNC in a relevant discipline, with commitment to higher education
  • Progress towards IEng or CEng status
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Interest in or experience with digital and parametric design tools
