Overview
In this role you will design Protection & Control systems for HV/EHV substations, shaping important energy infrastructure projects. You’ll work with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality designs and support commissioning and issue resolution. Responsibilities
- Prepare Protection & Control designs for HV/EHV substations (11kV–400kV or above)
- Develop Protection SLDs, AC/DC Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Terminal Plans, Cable Schedules, Interconnection Diagrams
- Design Protection Relay Panels, Control Panels, Annunciation Panels, Metering Panels, RTU/SCADA interfaces
- Prepare relay settings philosophy and coordinate with system studies
- Perform protection coordination and review relay configurations
- Prepare engineering calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, battery sizing)
- Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom, and SCADA teams
- Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical issue resolution
- Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, National Grid and client standards
- Support project execution by meeting quality, safety, and schedule requirements
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in HV/EHV Substation Protection & Control Design
- Knowledge of protection schemes for Transmission and Distribution substations
- Experience with protection relays from Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, or SEL
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- CDAE qualification is highly desirable
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems is advantageous
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, SAS, and communication protocols
- Ability to independently deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages
- Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments is advantageous
