Overview

In this Conservation Architect role, you lead bespoke private residential and heritage-led projects in London and beyond, covering all RIBA stages. You combine technical detailing with design development to deliver high-quality, context-driven architecture. You’ll own projects from concept to completion, engage clients, and coordinate with consultants while ensuring compliance with UK planning and building regulations. This is a technically focused, design-led position offering growth through complex schemes in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects across all RIBA work stages with consistent design quality
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and specifications ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manage client relationships with clear communication and trust
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders for integrated delivery
  • Oversee project programmes and adjust timelines and resources
  • Oversee budgets to meet cost constraints
  • Contribute to design development with careful attention to context and client requirements
  • Work independently and in multidisciplinary teams on complex schemes

Key requirements

  • Qualified Architect with minimum five years post-qualification experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential construction detailing and traditional methods
  • Experience delivering projects across all RIBA stages
  • Good understanding of UK planning policy, building regulations, and construction systems
  • Proven ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
  • Experience in contract administration and knowledge of standard building contracts and procurement routes
  • Strong communication skills with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of ArchiCAD; willingness to learn new tools
