Overview
As Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects, shaping outcomes from planning to post-construction. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to apply codes, standards, and best practices, guiding technical decisions and client engagements. The role blends hands-on engineering with leadership, mentorship, and project scope management to deliver safe, efficient electrical systems. Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and engineering portions across project phases from planning to post-construction
- Act as electrical discipline lead and/or project manager on electrical projects
- Serve as senior technical resource on large/complex projects and EOR where applicable
- Develop and manage electrical scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
- Lead preparation of electrical studies, technical memos, reports, and construction drawings (SLDs, wiring diagrams, MCCs, etc.)
- Coordinate electrical specifications with drawings and other disciplines
- Model, study, and analyze power systems (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor studies)
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Lead client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
- Oversee construction phase services and field reviews of conformance
- Contribute to development of electrical standards and specifications
- Manage multiple projects and participate in constructability reviews
- Support QA/QC and technical reviews of deliverables
- Engage in business development and project coordination meetings
Key requirements
- Industry-standard knowledge and application of electrical and building codes
- Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and effective communication
- Strong understanding of project documentation and relationships between drawings and specs in water/wastewater projects
- Extensive experience with electrical systems and construction methods in water/wastewater projects
- Proven ability to lead teams through all project delivery phases
- Ability to review others’ work for accuracy and completeness
- Time management to meet budget and schedule
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoDesk products (AutoCAD, Revit); familiarity with Bentley Microstation; experience with ETAP/SKM/EasyPower is highly valued
- Licensed Professional Engineer; minimum 15 years’ experience in consulting for water/wastewater infrastructure
