Overview

As a Senior Track Engineer in Amey’s Consulting Rail Signalling team, you will contribute to major rail projects across the UK. You will deliver technically sound designs, mentor junior engineers, and lead small single-discipline teams. You will liaise with clients and suppliers, and contribute to bids and work-winning. You will work on-site as needed and manage delivery on time and within budget. This role offers flexible working and development within a global infrastructure consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Produce technically sound engineering solutions in a team, supervising junior staff as needed
  • Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to meet quality, cost, and schedule
  • Oversee junior staff and be accountable for their output
  • Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings, respond to queries
  • Manage a small, locally based single-discipline technical team and ensure workload delivery
  • Contribute to bids and the overall work-winning function
  • Occasionally work on-site, including out-of-hours and temporary assignments
  • Step in as people manager when required

Key requirements

  • Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Rail civil engineering experience with a commercially focused mindset
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and supervise others
  • Strong understanding of DMRB and other national standards
  • Understanding of CDM regulations related to Rail design
  • Ability to support briefs for fee quotes and delivery within time, budget, and quality constraints
