As a Machine Shop Production Manager at Thales Belfast, you lead a production-focused team to deliver on costs, quality and deadlines within safety standards. Responsibilities
- Ensure team performance against cost, quality and deadlines with safety compliance
- Lead the end-to-end production ecosystem within scope and coordinate with support functions
- Develop and empower team members to increase autonomy and capability
- Coordinate APRU perimeters with Supply Chain, Process Engineering, Lean & Performances
- Maintain standard costs and identify improvement areas in collaboration with support functions
- Maintain production plan and customer delivery, anticipate risks and ensure product quality
- Manage production and repair costs, optimize WIP, reduce rework and improve productivity
- Plan workload, capacity and HR to maximise efficiency and employee well-being
- Develop team capabilities to meet challenges, manage skill rise and versatility
- Champion LEAN transformation (Gemba, FCTL, Andon, KAIZEN, InCIght) and standard processes
- Ensure rigorous standard compliance and proactive continuous improvement
- Manage performance via standardized processes (IObeya) aligned with site management
- Set priorities and make decisions to correct deviations
- Coordinate DOJOs and support the development of team autonomy with support functions
- Prioritize and ensure employee safety
Key requirements
- Analytical and problem-solving skills (FMECA, PDCA)
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing or repair processes
- Understanding of supply chain principles and flows
- Knowledge of industrial management control and MYB process
- Experience with continuous improvement tools (Gemba Walks, 5S, just-in-time, PDCA)
- Ability to use digital tools/dashboards for analysis and decision support
