Associate / Associate Director – Civil Engineer (Water)

Overview

In this role, you will lead civil engineering design delivery within WSP’s Regulated Water Asset Design team, supporting the AMP8 capital programme. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, own project delivery including safety, quality, schedule and budget, and build strong client relationships to ensure outcomes and satisfaction. You will shape services, pursue innovative approaches and digital products, and contribute to our Future Ready and Net Zero initiatives. The role blends leadership, technical excellence and mentoring as you help grow the civil engineering team in the UK and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership for all aspects of project delivery (health & safety, technical, quality, schedule, budget)
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams
• Shape service delivery and identify opportunities to offer wider WSP services domestically and overseas
• Build relationships with clients to ensure outcomes and satisfaction
• Contribute to innovative approaches, new services, and digital products
• Contribute to implementation of Future Ready and Net Zero programmes
• Act as ambassador for best practice within the Asset Design team and client initiatives
• Undertake bid preparation, resource and budget development
• Line manage and support development of graduates and apprentices
• Contribute to recruitment and growth of the civil engineering team
• Continue development of technical, managerial and leadership skills

Key requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• Chartered status, or significant progression towards ICE or CIWEM
• Experience in managing engineering design teams comprising civil engineers and other disciplines
• Experience in delivery of projects to budget and schedule
• Experience in checking/technical approval on linear civil infrastructure or industrial/design projects
• Experience in mentoring or coaching junior civil engineers
