Overview

In this role you will oversee sovereigns investments within the Institutional Retirement Investments team, shaping the sovereigns mandate and risk framework. You will contribute to Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) activities and collaborate with ALM and Asset Management to improve portfolio analytics. You’ll lead governance, risk appetite setting and performance assessment to strengthen the sovereigns portfolio. This is an opportunity to influence investment strategy at scale within a leading UK insurer and asset manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead oversight of the sovereigns mandate, define risk appetites and objectives, and drive initiatives to enhance the investment framework and diversification
  • Contribute to the development of TAA and cross-asset trading, assess relative value across asset classes and identify optimization opportunities
  • Monitor sovereign exposures and provide challenge to PMs based on risk appetites, market developments, and liquidity
  • Create and maintain risk and performance metrics and tools for the sovereigns portfolio
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders (ALM, Asset Management, Investment Operations, Finance) and draft governance papers
  • Collaborate with ALM, Asset Management, Investment Strategy to improve portfolio analytics and timely MI
  • Operate within mandates and risk limits while embedding Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty principles

Key requirements

  • Strong quantitative skills from a quantitative degree, postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience (CFA or equivalent preferred)
  • Deep understanding of sovereign bonds, interest rate derivatives and risk analysis, ideally in an insurance ALM environment
  • Experience overseeing sovereign bond investments and contributing to asset allocation or portfolio management decisions
  • Familiarity with portfolio analysis, portfolio management and asset allocation concepts
  • Experience in an insurance or liability-driven investment context and governance and risk management processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills and ability to collaborate across teams
