Overview
As Senior Electronics Engineer, you will lead the design, development and support of mixed electrical/electronic solutions from concept to completion within a phase-gate process. You will work closely with the Design Team to define specifications and ensure a complete, integrated hardware architecture for harsh environments. You will analyze, test and document electrical systems while collaborating across teams to meet safety and quality standards. This role offers impact through shaping robust electronics hardware and driving the development lifecycle at Ampthill.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of analog, digital, microprocessor, FPGA, and power electronics circuits
- Perform analysis, testing and evaluation of electronic circuits and components
- Conduct circuit simulation and analysis to validate designs
- Produce technical documentation (requirements, trade studies, compliance, test)
- Review supplier capabilities to support source selection
- Support assembly, integration and test activities
- Manage electronic design processes and documentation in line with phase-gate development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
Key requirements
- Formal electronic qualification (HNC/HND/BEng)
- Experience in electronics hardware design for harsh environments
- Schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred)
- EMC awareness at product and PCB level
- Knowledge of Def-Stan/Mil standards, safety and quality processes
- Experience with lab test equipment and JTAG design/debug
- Experience with Windchill or similar PLM tool
- Ability to deliver tests and compliance evidence
