Overview
As Engineering Maintenance Section Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team to maintain and optimise food processing and packaging assets. You will drive planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance while pushing continuous improvement to boost efficiency and performance. This hands-on leadership role challenges you to shape maintenance processes and grow your team’s capability in a fast-moving food manufacturing environment. You will work closely with operations to support audits, safety, and reliability initiatives, contributing to Greencore’s mission to make every day taste better.

Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee food and drink maintenance activities
- Deliver maintenance across processing and packaging assets (planned, predictive, reactive)
- Diagnose and resolve faults in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatic systems
- Lead changeovers and equipment set-ups
- Drive continuous improvement and support failure investigations
- Conduct technical performance reviews with stakeholders
- Maintain engineering documentation
- Develop team capability and technical competence
- Ensure tools and equipment are available and functioning
- Support internal and external audits
- Manage day-to-day people activities for direct reports
Key requirements
- Strong multi-skilled engineering capability with an electrical bias
- Knowledge of food manufacturing equipment and hygienic engineering principles
- Fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
- Experience planning maintenance activities and managing budgets, spares, and CMMS
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams
- Contractor management and safe systems of work knowledge
- Understanding of health, safety, environmental legislation, and risk management
- Continuous improvement mindset with exposure to reliability or productivity techniques
- Clear communicator and ability to collaborate across operations and engineering
