Project Manager – Defence & Security

Overview

In this role you lead delivery of project scopes within budget, regulatory and planning controls for Arcadis’ UK Defence team. You will oversee work streams or teams, manage plans and schedules, and ensure projects meet compliance and quality standards. You’ll work cross-functionally to optimise resources, report risks, and advise leadership on project and process improvements. This is a hands-on, collaborative role with a focus on delivering measurable impact in defence-related design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee scope of work and operational workload of a team or contractors to meet programme targets
• Create and manage plans and schedules, track budgets, and highlight variances
• Deliver small to medium projects within allocated resources and deadlines
• Present risks or issues to senior managers and ensure compliant delivery
• Advise colleagues on compliance behaviours and processes
• Analyze data to identify themes/trends and inform decision-making
• Review project processes and policies and recommend improvements
• Collaborate across the organisation to support delivery to internal customers
• Advise senior management on project issues to support successful delivery
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to keep parties informed on progress
• Set project delivery approaches and plans with key stakeholders
• Establish delivery plans and control mechanisms to assure delivery
• Manage performance of project team/Resources

Key requirements

• Experience managing technically complex projects/programmes typically 5m–150m
• Ability to work with external stakeholders and manage client relationships at middle-management level
• Experience in NEC Contract Suites
• In-depth knowledge of Defence & Security sector and construction/built asset sector
• Ability to obtain BPSS clearance and SC clearance
• Capable of taking a project from inception to completion
