Overview

In this role you will lead the health and safety strategy across ScottishPower, partnering with directors and executives to drive world-class performance. You will implement and continuously improve the H&S management system for operational and construction activities, fostering a zero-harm safety culture. You will deliver enhanced reporting and data insights to support proactive decisions, and manage a team to share best practices with external stakeholders. This is a chance to shape safety in a major renewable energy context, contributing to the company’s net-zero and sustainable growth goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the health and safety policy, strategy, and operating plan across the business.
  • Lead the health and safety management system for both operational and construction activities.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through leadership, behavioural initiatives, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee health and safety reporting and develop dashboards and insights (Power BI and other tools).
  • Manage improvement plans, budgets, and H&S objectives to meet targets.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health, government bodies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders; coach and develop a team of H&S Consultants.
  • Provide expert guidance on strategy, compliance, and performance to directors and executives.

Key requirements

  • Degree level education or comparable experience.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001/45003 and international safety standards.
  • Understanding of the renewable industry value chain.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • IOSH membership is desirable.
